Privacy policy
Last updated October 29, 2026
This policy covers stanfordsigmachi.org, run by the Alpha Omega chapter of Sigma Chi at Stanford ("we"). We collect only what we need to run our events.
What we collect
- Guests: name, whether they're a guy or girl, freshman status, and sorority, entered by the chapter member who invites them; your mobile number, entered by that member or by you when you claim your invite. Then your RSVP, whether you picked up your wristband, and your texting choices.
- Chapter members: name, Stanford email (for Google sign-in), mobile number, and role.
- Technical data: basic request logs kept by our hosting provider for security and rate limiting.
How we use it
- To manage guest lists, approvals, RSVPs, and check-in at the door. Your number lets you get back to your invite, and if you come again, lets us link a new invite to you.
- To text you about events you RSVP'd to, and about new invites if you opted in (see texting terms), and to text members about their guests.
- To keep our events safe, including checking that a guest's ID matches their ticket.
Who can see it
Chapter admins can see the guest list for an event. Members see only the guests they invited, plus, when inviting someone whose name is already in our system, that person's name, last event, and the last two digits of their number, so they can pick the right person. Door crew see one guest at a time when checking tickets. If an event's hosts turn it on, confirmed guests can see the first names and last initials of other confirmed guests (never phone numbers).
We use these service providers to run the site, and they process data only on our behalf: Cloudflare (hosting and database), Twilio (text messages), and Google (member sign-in).
Text messaging
We do not sell, rent, or share mobile numbers or text-messaging opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Reply STOP to any text to opt out.
How long we keep it
We keep guest information only as long as we need it to run our events. Email sigmachi-ao@stanford.edu and we'll delete your information.
